Patent Pool

The high cost of drugs is a key barrier to universal access to HIV treatment. A patent pool is a simple system where patent owners give their patents to a central organisation that then licenses them to other companies and researchers. Join this group to learn about why we need to push for the pool.

Taking the framework forward

UNICEF HQ has embarked on a consultancy to develop evidence-based operational guidance to accompany the original ‘Framework for the Protection, Care and Support of orphans and vulnerable children living in a world with HIV and AIDS’. While the original strategies set out in the Framework document remain valid in some settings, it is envisaged that the revised guidance will incorporate a considerably expanded evidence base, while including regionally specific programming practice with case studies. In support of this process, documents that reflect important recent evidence, frameworks, case studies or specific guidance on vulnerable children and HIV and AIDS is requested. You can include your key documents by clicking on the tab ‘Documents’ (above) and inserting the file in the appropriate folder.
