HIV Prevalence and Unrecognized HIV Infection Among Men Who Have Sex With Men - 1 | A study released shows that in Chicago, half of all HIV-positive men who have sex with men (MSM) are unaware of their infection. Conducted by the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) in 2008, the study also shows racial and ethnic differences in HIV prevalence. Of 524 MSM tested by CDPH in the study, 91 men (17.4%) were HIV positive. Black MSM were 30.1% positive, Hispanic MSM were 12% positive and white MSM were 11.3% positive.
